Earlier this year, Oregon Farm Bureau added a new staff member to our team. Lauren Kuenzi joins us as the Director of Governmental and Political Affairs and will work alongside VP of Government and Legal Affairs Lauren Poor. We sat down with Lauren to get to know her a little better.
Why Did You Want to Work for Oregon Farm Bureau?
“I was born and raised in Oregon. Growing up in rural Marion County, we knew what time of year it was - not by the date on the calendar - but by what crops were in the field. Oregon farmers are some of the hardest working people I’ve ever met. To have the opportunity to represent them in our State Capitol is a tremendous honor and a responsibility I take very seriously.”
What Do You Hope to Accomplish in Your Role?
“I want to build a bridge between Oregon farmers, ranchers, and state lawmakers. Whether you are from downtown Portland or rural Baker county, we have a lot more in common than we realize. We all want family farms to grow and thrive and be successful in increasingly competitive regional and global markets. There is a lot of work to be done, but I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to be a voice for an industry that is so important to our state and its economy.“
Tell Us a Fun Fact About Yourself
“When I was young, I wanted to be a country singer or professional basketball player. Fortunately for Nashville and the league, I have a weakness for politics.”
